    Diamondbacks acquire outfielder Dunn from Reds (AP)

    The Arizona Diamondbacks have acquired slugger Adam Dunn from the Cincinnati Reds for a minor-league pitcher and two players to be named later. Dunn, 28, was batting .233 this season for the Reds, with 32 home runs. He’s tied for the major league lead in home runs. Dunn has a career .247 batting average.

    It’s hard enough trying to get hits against the major league-leader in wins. When he starts swinging the bat well, too, that’s just unfair. Brandon Webb pitched six strong innings for his 17th win and hit a two-run double to lead the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 6-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday.

    Brandon Webb threw six strong innings for his major league-leading 17th win and also hit a two-run double to lead the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 6-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday. Chris Snyder homered for the Diamondbacks, who snapped a four-game losing streak to remain in first place in the NL West.

    Diamondbacks’ Hudson out for season after surgery (AP)

    Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Orlando Hudson underwent surgery late Saturday night to repair a dislocated bone in his left wrist and will miss the remainder of the season. Hudson was placed on the 15-day disabled list before the game and right-handed pitcher Edgar Gonzalez was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.

    Brian McCann hit his team-leading 21st home run and drove in four runs, two in Atlanta’s decisive seven-run sixth inning, and the Braves beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 11-4 on Saturday night. Mark Kotsay was 3-for-5 with a double and Jair Jurrjens allowed seven hits over six innings for the Braves, who have won four of their last five including the first three of four games in Arizona.

    D-Backs’ Hudson leaves game after injuring wrist (AP)

    Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Orlando Hudson left the game against the Atlanta Braves on Saturday night because of an apparent wrist injury. Hudson was attempting to field an errant throw from reliever Juan Cruz when Atlanta catcher Brian McCann collided with Hudson’s left wrist. Hudson immediately fell to the infield dirt and rolled in pain before leaving the game.
