Hard-throwing Scherzer to join Arizona rotation (AP)
Once he made it to the big leagues, Max Scherzer wasted no time in earning a spot in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ rotation. The hard-throwing right-hander will start Monday when Arizona is home against the Philadelphia Phillies, Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin said before Wednesday’s game against Houston.

Webb outduels Peavy to lift D’backs past Padres 2-1 (AP)
Brandon Webb outpitched Jake Peavy in a battle of the last two NL Cy Young Award winners, leading the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 2-1 victory over the San Diego Padres on Sunday.
