Hard-throwing Scherzer to join Arizona rotation (AP)

Once he made it to the big leagues, Max Scherzer wasted no time in earning a spot in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ rotation. Webb outpitches Peavy as D-backs win again (AP)

Brandon Webb had a pretty good idea what to expect when the Arizona Diamondbacks faced Jake Peavy and the San Diego Padres. A couple runs might be all it would take. “I knew there was not going to be a lot of room for error,” Webb said, “so it makes you focus in even [...]

Webb outduels Peavy to lift D’backs past Padres 2-1 (AP)

Brandon Webb outpitched Jake Peavy in a battle of the last two NL Cy Young Award winners, leading the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 2-1 victory over the San Diego Padres on Sunday. Webb (6-0), the 2006 Cy Young winner, allowed just one unearned run and twice escaped bases-loaded jams before leaving after six innings.
