All-Star second baseman Orlando Hudson and four other Diamondbacks agreed to one-year contracts Friday as Arizona avoided arbitration with all its eligible players. Catcher Chris Snyder, right-handed relievers Brandon Lyon and Chad Qualls, and infielder Chris Burke also agreed to deals. Right-hander Juan Cruz accepted a $1,937,500, one-year contract earlier this week.

Diamondbacks and RHP Juan Cruz avoid arbitration with 1-year contract (AP)
The Arizona Diamondbacks and right-hander Juan Cruz avoided arbitration, agreeing Wednesday to a $1,937,500, one-year contract. The 29-year-old Cruz went 6-1 with a 3.10 ERA for the NL West champions last year. He is 25-31 with a 4.16 ERA in a seven-year career with the Chicago Cubs, Atlanta, Oakland and Arizona.
