Starting job up for grabs as Arizona pitchers, catchers report (AP)
Arizona pitchers and catchers reported for spring training on Friday with a wide-open competition looming for the final spot in the Diamondbacks’ rotation. The first four are set with Brandon Webb, Randy Johnson, Livan Hernandez and Doug Davis, but at least six youngsters will vie for the fifth spot, according to manager Bob Melvin.

Byrnes, Diamondbacks agree to 1-year deal (AP)
The Arizona Diamondbacks and outfielder Eric Byrnes agreed to a $4,575,000, one-year contract Tuesday, avoiding arbitration. Byrnes was the last Arizona player in arbitration.
